ZStack Empowers Indonesian MSP with Unified Management for VMware Assets
Granular permission control,Seamless vCenter integration ,Future-proof scalability

Background & Challenge

A leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) in Southeast Asia, with operations in multiple countries, provides one-stop digital infrastructure solutions to a diverse client base. As the business expanded, its environment, consisting of multiple, disparate VMware systems, created significant challenges, including:

1.Complex operations and maintenance (O&M).
2.Ineffective access and permission controls.
3.Limited high-availability (HA) capabilities.
4.High expansion and licensing costs.

The MSP urgently needed a solution that could unify resource management, improve operational efficiency, and enhance HA capabilities without replacing its existing VMware architecture and hardware investments. The goal was to find a balance between business agility, cost control, and compliance.

Solution

The client selected ZStack Cloud to overlay and enhance its existing infrastructure. The implementation focused on integration and efficiency:

1.Unified Management: By integrating directly with vCenter, ZStack Cloud brought all VMware and ZStack resources under a single, unified management plane.

2.Multi-Tenant Self-Service: A multi-tenant self-service portal was established, enabling automated, full-lifecycle management of virtual machines for both internal teams and external clients.

3.Enhanced Business Continuity: The platform’s built-in High-Availability (HA) policies were leveraged to strengthen the resilience and uptime of critical business services.

4.Hardware Repurposing: ZStack’s compatibility with the MSP’s existing servers and storage enabled seamless hardware repurposing, reducing costs and ensuring a smooth platform evolution.

Customer Benefits

1.Modernized Operations: Unified management of heterogeneous resources simplified O&M workflows and dramatically improved the efficiency of virtual machine lifecycle management.

2.Accelerated Service Delivery: The self-service portal empowers business units and tenants with autonomous control, enabling the automated provisioning and de-provisioning of resources on demand.

3.Enhanced Stability: The flexible and efficient built-in HA mechanisms significantly improved business continuity and reduced the risk of service interruptions for client workloads.

4.Cost Optimization: By maintaining compatibility with existing hardware and VMware assets, the solution preserved the value of historical investments and substantially reduced costs associated with platform expansion and upgrades.
